Summer is peak rental season on 30A,
so now is the time to get your place spruced up and ready to rent. The folks
that vacation down here have come to expect a certain kind of lifestyle - nice
amenities and luxury are often what they seek. Here are a few things to
take care of:
- Clean your place up inside and out. Give it a deep clean on the inside and spruce up the outside landscape – add mulch, trim bushes and trees, and pressure wash all hardscape.
- Make sure you have cable & WiFi. Electronic prices have dropped dramatically, so make sure every room has a decent sized TV. A large TV and sound bar in the living area will make a lasting impression.
- Nice high thread count sheets, oversized fluffy towels, and large beach towels are a nice touch.
- When it comes to the kitchen, make sure you have enough dishes and tableware to handle twice the number of your maximum group size so guests don't have to do dishes after each use. (So if your place sleeps 10 you need a set of 20.)
- Little things like alarm clocks, phone chargers, DVD players and a sound system offer your guests the extra comforts of home.
- And to make your place is one your guests will want to rent again, have on hand what they will need for their first morning – coffee and water and maybe a few snacks. Some sort of welcome package with flowers, wine, crackers, maps, brochures, a restaurant book with menus, and coupons will make a great impression.
- Rental bikes and golf carts go a long way to help entice renters to choose your place.
And finally, be sure you protect
yourself and your place. Remember, you should always take precautions. Do you
have the appropriate insurance? Make sure you are covered in case there is ever
any property damage.
I hope you find
this list helpful and you have a profitable rental season this summer on 30A!
